Fatehpur Sikri
Fatehpur Sikri, is one of the amazing city in the state of Rajasthan, which is next to the Agra city. It was also the capital of the Mughal Empire during the late 16th century. However, it was as capital only for 14 years and later was abandoned in 17th century. This historical city is now a part of UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the prime tourist attractions near Agra.
In addition, this city is constructed with red sand-stone. The Emperor Mohammad Akbar built it in honour of great Sufi saint ‘’Salim Chisti’’. Its magnificence and uniqueness offers a fine example of Indian and Islamic architecture. Akbar was tolerant of other religious views and interest in literature, architecture and fine arts. That’s why buildings at Fatehpur Sikri as a charismatic blend of Islamic and Hindu elements in their style and design. It is a genuine place for photography and making movies because of its shining red sand stone.

During sunset and sunrise, the domes and turrets create awesome shadows against the copper red sky. It is truly an inspirational scene for the visitor’s eyes. Fatehpur Sikri is spreads over into 11 kilometre long fortification wall with numerous gateways. Moreover, the remains of the great city are the intricately built marble tomb of the great Sufi saint. The Imperial Palace Complex, Salim Chisti and the grand mosque is really awesome. However, having a look on it one can imagine the era of gold tapestry, rich plush carpets, drapes and the royalty of the Mughal courts.
In short, this city is very famous for Akbar and Birbal stories. Akber was the King and Birbal was the Matri (vice president). When there was any dispute between villagers they were coming to King for solution and Birbal was there to find the solution with his sharp brain. In conclusion, people say that he was the cleverest person ever in the history. It is a must visit place if you are travelling Jaipur to Agra because it is on the way.
