Taj Mahal
One of the breathtaking monument of India ‘’ Taj Mahal’’, Emperor Shah Jahan spent a lot of money to construct this white marble mausoleum for his queen Mumtaz. The Taj Mahal is one of the most glorious symbols of love and remains a thing of rare breathtaking beauty from centuries.
The building was constructed in 1632 and with the local technique of intricate marble inlay work. The site was honoured with the National Heriatge Award of the country. Taj Mahal regarded as one of the seven wonder of the world is situated on the banks of the River Yamuna and stands at the northern end of formal gardens. The white marble came from ‘’Makrana’’ from Rajasthan and the red sandstone from Fatehpur Sikri. Precious stones like jade, crystal, lapis lazuli, sapphire, coral and diamonds were brought from far places like Tibet, China, Sri Lanka, Persia and Afghanistan. People say that a fleet of 1000 elephants were used for transportation.

Red Fort, Agra
The Mughal Emperor Akbar has orderd the construction of the Agra Fort in 1565, A.D. However the additions were made till the time of his grandson Shahjahan.
The exteriors of this fort hide an inner paradise. There are a number of beautiful buildings like Moti Masjid – a white marble mosque, Diwan-I-Am, Diwan-I-Khaas, Musamman Burj – where Shahjahan died in 1666 A.D and Jahangir’s Palace; Khaas Mahal and Shish Mahal.
